cancellation policy

Your booking can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before to pick up. For bookings cancelled within 24 hours, an administration fee of 25 EURO will be charged. The booking must be cancelled with holiday autos or your travel agency.

what is included in the price?

All holiday autos rates include unlimited mileage, third party insurance, collision damage waiver, theft waiver, airport surcharges (with the exception of some destinations in Australia) and all local taxes. However, damages to the tires and glass are not covered in the insurance. In some countries the insurance doesn’t cover damages on roof, chassis, the interior and towage expenses. If you have purchased holiday autos damage excess waiver including cancellation protection at the time of your booking, the excess will be refunded (This includes damages to the tires, glass, roof, chassis, the interior and towage expenses). In case of damage, where you are not to blame for the accident, it’s important that you file a police report and bring it to the local car rental company when returning the vehicle. You will be responsible for the damage unless this occurs.

rental cars in australia

For cars that are rented in so called "metropolitan areas", unlimited mileage is included. In other areas, 100-200 km per day is included depending on location. Mileage beyond that will be charged at a rate of AU$0.25 per km.

extra insurance

Personal accident insurance (pai) is usually an option offered to you at the local car rental company. It’s up to you to purchase the insurance (and it may not make sense if you are already covered by your travel insurance). However, if you purchase the extra cover it will be payable directly to the car rental company. It’s also common for the local car rental company to offer additions to the insurance. Please note that this is entirely voluntary and the insurances we offer is enough in our view.

Please note that we do not refund any extra insurance, upgrades or similar that you yourself have signed for on the rental agreement. holiday autos will not accept reclaims of above mentioned charges. So please read through and make sure you fully understand what you are signing on the rental agreement. Be also aware that local tax is added to all local extras i.e. child seats, roof racks, additional drivers etc. Rates for extra items are shown in local currency excluding tax.

damage excess waiver including cancellation protection from € 20

You purchase the damage excess waiver including cancellation protection at the time of your booking. If you need to cancel the booking before pick up, we will refund the total amount. In the unlikely event of anything happening to the vehicle, you will have to pay the excess locally. When arriving home you then need to provide us with booking reference, damage report, and receipt of excess payment and a copy of the rental agreement. This should be done within two months after returning home. Before the excess is refunded, we need to contact the local car rental company to verify the damages. Due to this, the refund may take a couple of weeks. If nothing illegal has occurred, we will refund the excess.

Please note that the damage excess waiver is not valid if repairs are done to the vehicle, including tires, without the express consent of the local car rental company.

holiday autos cancellation protection guarantees your money back in case you need to cut your rental short due to illness or family emergency. A medical record is required.

deposit

All customers will be required to leave a deposit. To do so, a valid credit card in the name of the lead driver, must be produced upon collection of the vehicle, as a form of deposit. The credit card must be international e.g. Visa, MasterCard, Eurocard, American Express or Diners Club with relief numbers on the card. The card must have sufficient limits/fund to cover the excess. Please note! Maestro, Dankort and electronic cards are not valid.

flight information on arrival at the airport

Please ensure that flight details are given to us at least 1 day prior to departure, either online or by phone.

pick up outside office hours

If you wish to pick up your vehicle outside office hours, there often is an out-of-hours service available. This service is charged and paid for locally.

drop off at different location

If you wish to leave your vehicle at a location different from pick up-location, you must book this in advance. Please note that charges payable locally may be applicable, and will be advised once you have selected the vehicle you require.

driving restrictions

In some countries there might be restrictions on taking your vehicle to other countries. Always check with holiday autos if you are planning on taking the vehicle into another country. It is usually not allowed to take the rental car onboard ferries. Please contact holiday autos for further information.

child seats, roof racks, ski racks

Extras should be booked at the time of your booking. All extras are paid for locally to the local car rental company. holiday autos is not responsible for any additional charges that may occur in the case of extras not being delivered.

minimum age, additional drivers

Minimum age is 21. If you are aged 21 – 25 you may still be able to rent a vehicle however an additional surcharge may be incurred. This surcharge is partly to cover additional insurance and is payable to the local car rental company on collection of your vehicle. Additional drivers must sign the rental agreement when picking up the vehicle and there is normally an extra charge for additional drivers that are paid locally.

drivings licence

The driver’s license must be one year old or more. A Swedish or an international license is required in USA. American licenses for the first driver are not allowed in USA (additional drivers holding an American license is allowed).

car size/-type

Your booking is confirmed by car size and not by specific brand. The car shown on your voucher is for guidance only and may be substituted for an alternative vehicle of the same size. If the local supplier delivers at smaller car size than you have pre-booked, holiday autos will compensate for the difference in rate between the two vehicles. Any other claims on holiday autos cannot be done.

voucher

You are responsible to make sure that the information on your voucher is correct as soon as you receive it. Any mistakes must immediately be notified to holiday autos so that a new voucher can be issued. Promises made by the local car rental company staff must be written on the voucher for the rental agreement to be valid. The voucher which you receive from holiday autos must be handed over to the local car rental company when picking up the vehicle. If the voucher is not handed over, the local car rental company has the right to charge you locally at the local daily rate. Voluntary up grade will also be charged locally. Rental days are based on 24 hour units, commencing at the time of pick up. If you return the vehicle late, you will be charged locally at the local daily rate, which may be higher than our rates.

complaints

Any possible complaints regarding car standard or similar must be presented to the local car rental company so that our local car rental partner is given opportunity to repair or replace the vehicle. If the complaint regarding car standard or similar has not been presented locally or pointed out to holiday autos during the rental, the complaint will not be accepted after coming home. In case of a possible complaint we ask you to keep the rental agreement and send us a copy upon returning home. Because holiday autos is a broker for each car rental company, a special rental contract is established when picking up the vehicle. Read the contract carefully before signing. This contract is valid in the event of a dispute. holiday autos can not be held responsible for any loss, damage or accident outside holiday autos control. holiday autos is not responsible for any additional charges which might occur in relation to delays in delivery, received car type or failure of delivering extras. In the event of lost keys you will be liable for the reasonable costs of obtaining a replacement, and further costs if directly related to the theft of the car. holiday autos can only consider complaints that reach them within 2 months of the final day of rental to which the rental voucher refers.

rate changes

charges for extras e.g. child seats, roof racks, snow chains, young drivers, extra insurance which are paid for locally, are preliminary. holiday autos can not be held responsible for compensation if these charges change.
